[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on the 2nd that the net inflow increased according to the '2020 Domestic Population Movement Statistics' released by Statistics Korea.

Net population inflow indicates a state where the number of in-migrants exceeds the number of out-migrants in a specific area.

The city had experienced a decrease in in-migrants for five consecutive years recently, but last year, there were 6,695 out-migrants and 6,778 in-migrants, with 83 more in-migrants.

Last year’s commencement of the Nano Industrial Complex Samyang Foods, selection for the Miryang Win-Win Job Project, groundbreaking of the Smart Farm Innovation Valley, and the start of the Miryang Rural Tourism and Recreation Complex are seen as results of efforts to increase quality jobs within the region.

In addition, various population increase policies such as encouraging childbirth, supporting return-to-farming and return-to-village, and welcoming new residents are being implemented.

Mayor Park Il-ho said, “We will do our best to build infrastructure for long-term livability, create jobs, and make it a city where people want to come and live.”
