Sang-Young Jeong, Honorary Chairman of KCC
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Ju-hyung] Jeong Sang-young, honorary chairman of KCC and the youngest brother of the late Jeong Ju-young, honorary chairman of Hyundai Group, passed away on the 30th due to a long illness. He was 84 years old. With this, the era of the first-generation Hyundai family entrepreneurs of the 'Young (永)' generation has come to an end.
Born in 1936 in Tongcheon, Gangwon Province, the late chairman founded KCC in August 1958 at the age of 22 under the name Geumgang Slate Industry, which manufactured slate. He worked at the company until the end of last year, never letting go of his business for 60 years.
Following him, KCC is currently led by his eldest son, Chairman Jeong Mong-jin.
