Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Supports Livelihood Stability Services During Lunar New Year Holiday

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will reduce the fees for childcare services for dual-income and single-parent families who need to work during the Lunar New Year holiday.

On the 31st, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced that it will support livelihood stabilization services during the Lunar New Year holiday period. They will lower the fees for childcare services, provide winter supplies to runaway youth, and keep youth shelters open 24 hours.

The ministry will provide winter supplies such as padded jackets to about 1,800 runaway youth residing in youth shelters and self-reliance support centers. More than 130 youth shelters nationwide will operate 24 hours, offering emergency living protection (food, clothing, and shelter), psychological counseling, and support for returning to family and society.

Dual-income and single-parent families experiencing care gaps during the Lunar New Year holiday can use childcare services. During this holiday period, the usual 50% holiday surcharge on fees will not be applied.

The Women, Family, and Youth Counseling Hotline will also operate normally 24 hours a day. Through the 1388 Youth Counseling service (phone, text, online), services such as rescuing youth in crisis, counseling, and connecting to protective facilities are provided.

The Family Counseling Hotline (1644-6621), which supports counseling for single-parent families and family conflicts, will also operate normally. Multicultural families, including marriage immigrant women, can receive counseling and information in 13 languages through the Danuri Call Center (1577-1366).

The Women's Emergency Hotline (1366) and Sunflower Centers, which assist victims of domestic violence and sexual violence, will also operate normally 24 hours a day.
