March 3rd, 2nd Term Employment Academy Opening, Customized Job Support
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City announced on the 29th that out of 30 first-generation students who completed the POSCO Group Employment Academy operated last year, 15 were accepted into large corporations including POSCO.
The POSCO Group Employment Academy is a customized job project necessary for employment in the POSCO Group to expand opportunities for local youth to be hired by large corporations. The city signed an agreement with POSCO in 2019 and has been promoting the program since last year.
Despite difficulties caused by COVID-19, among the students who completed six months of training, 7 were hired by POSCO, 1 by POSCO Chemical, 1 by Hyundai Steel, 1 by Soulbrain, 1 by Samsung SDI, 1 by Kolon Industries, 1 by CJ CheilJedang, 1 by LS Mtron, and 1 by Sebang Battery, totaling 15 who passed the open recruitment of companies.
This year, 162 people applied through open recruitment for the second Employment Academy, and after written tests and interviews, 30 students were finally selected. The program is scheduled to start on March 3.
Moon Byung-joo, Director of the Investment and Employment Division, said, “The POSCO Group Employment Academy project supports outstanding local talents to work in local companies and settle down stably,” adding, “Through this project, we will create a Gwangyang where young people return.”
