Dongdaemun-gu to Provide Up to 2 Million Won in Childbirth Support Funds for Families with Disabilities

After Birth Registration at the Community Service Center? One-Stop Application for Childcare Allowance and Child Benefit Possible

Dongdaemun-gu to Provide Up to 2 Million Won in Childbirth Support Funds for Families with Disabilities

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) provides childbirth support funds of up to 2 million KRW to help healthy childbirth for babies and mothers and to contribute to the livelihood stability of families with disabilities.

The district reduces the economic burden on women with disabilities, who incur higher costs during pregnancy and childbirth than non-disabled women, by providing an additional childbirth support fund from the district on top of the 1 million KRW childbirth support fund supported by national and city funds.

Women with severe disabilities receive an additional 1 million KRW, women with less severe disabilities receive 500,000 KRW, and spouses who are men with severe disabilities related to childbirth receive an additional 500,000 KRW.

The support is available to families with disabilities registered as residents in Dongdaemun-gu based on the newborn's birth date, and applications can be made within one year from the date of birth.

The district provides this childbirth support fund in addition to the general childbirth support fund given to ordinary families, and also allows overlapping payments if both parents have disabilities, thereby reducing the economic burden on families with disabilities.

After registering the birth at the local community service center, applicants can fill out the childbirth service integrated application form and conveniently apply for childcare allowance, child allowance, and other services in a one-stop process.

If visiting the community service center is difficult, applications can also be made through the Bokjiro website.

You Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “Women with disabilities incur relatively higher costs during childbirth compared to non-disabled women, so we provide additional childbirth support funds to reduce the economic burden on families with disabilities,” and added, “We hope that the childbirth support fund for families with disabilities will be a practical help for the healthy childbirth of babies and mothers.”
