Non-face-to-face Method... Available from 5 AM to 11 PM
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 28th that it will officially implement an unmanned lending service that allows borrowing books held at the district public libraries, Pureungil Library and Youth Library, via the internet without contact with library staff.
To this end, Nam-gu recently installed an unmanned system space with book lending and return functions, about 5 pyeong in size, at the entrance on the first floor of the Cultural Information Library, which is currently undergoing remodeling construction.
The reason for installing the book reservation lending and return machine here is because the remodeling construction of the Cultural Information Library is scheduled until June, and the books currently stored in the library are being moved from the shelves to other storage locations.
It is also to minimize inconvenience and satisfy the reading needs of users of the Cultural Information Library during the construction period.
The unmanned reservation lending service at public libraries is provided to members holding a Nam-gu Integrated Library membership card, and the service can be applied for through the Nam-gu Integrated Library website or the LibroPia app.
The usage hours are from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., allowing use outside of public library business hours, and if the application procedure is completed by midnight of the day before the pickup date, books can be borrowed from the next day excluding Mondays and public holidays.
A notification text message will be sent to residents who applied for the service when the reserved book arrives, and book lending is possible for up to 2 books per person for up to 14 days.
A Nam-gu official said, “With the implementation of the unmanned reservation lending service at public libraries, members of the Nam-gu Integrated Library can conveniently continue their reading life without being restricted by library operating hours,” and added, “We will do our best to discover better services to revitalize the reading life of local residents.”
