[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Emart24 announced on the 28th that it has partnered with the contactless secondhand trading service company ‘Parabara’ to introduce secondhand trading machines (Parabox) at 18 stores located in residential and office areas, starting test operations. Parabara is an offline-based secondhand trading platform.
The Parabox can store up to 20 items. Sellers who wish to sell an item must first register the item on the Parabara app and receive at least 3 hearts from other users to gain the right to sell at the Parabox in the store. After obtaining 3 hearts in the app, the seller selects a store with a Parabox to place the item, chooses an empty box number, and deposits the product to start the sale.
Buyers can check the stores where items are stocked on the Parabara app and visit them, or if they find an item they like in the Parabox, they can purchase it directly through self-checkout at the Parabox. Upon payment, the locked Parabox door opens, allowing the customer to take the item.
If the buyer does not raise any issues with the product, the payment is transferred to the seller’s account after 3 days. Parabox accepts payments via credit and debit cards. Additionally, if the product differs from the actual item or has defects, Parabara provides customer service including exchanges and refunds.
An Emart24 official stated, “As contactless transactions have become routine due to COVID-19, we expect the Parabara service, which enables contactless secondhand trading, to receive great response,” adding, “We plan to continue offering differentiated lifestyle services that consider customer convenience.”
