My Proposal for Our District Project?... Jungnang-gu Calls for Resident Participation Budget Proposals Worth 1 Billion KRW

Jungnang-gu Residents, Employees of Institutions and Businesses in Jungnang-gu, Students, etc. Can Propose... Final Project Selection Scheduled for Early August Through Residents' Assembly

My Proposal for Our District Project?... Jungnang-gu Calls for Resident Participation Budget Proposals Worth 1 Billion KRW

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is accepting proposals for the Jungnang-gu Resident Participatory Budget projects until April 9.

The Resident Participatory Budget system allows residents to propose projects and directly participate in budget allocation. This year’s budget scale is 1 billion KRW, which is 100 million KRW more than last year.

The call for proposals covers a wide range of areas, from inconveniences in daily life and small-scale neighborhood environment improvement projects to long-standing resident demands. It is a representative resident direct participation project that has attracted much interest from residents.

Applications are open to all residents of Jungnang-gu, employees of institutions and businesses located in Jungnang-gu, and students. Applications can be submitted through the Jungnang-gu Office website (Citizen Participation → Resident Participatory Budget → Project Proposal), or by visiting in person or by mail.

For detailed information regarding applications, please contact the Village Cooperation Division of Jungnang-gu Office.

There are no special restrictions on proposed projects; however, projects involving rigid expenses such as labor costs or statutory expenses, ongoing projects rather than one-year projects, projects requiring support for specific organizations (individuals), projects with a total budget exceeding 100 million KRW, or event-type projects with expenses exceeding 30 million KRW are excluded.

Proposed projects will be reviewed and deliberated by the Resident Participatory Budget Committee, and final selections will be made through a resident general meeting in August. After budget allocation and review by the district council, the projects will be implemented in 2022.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “We appreciate residents proposing solutions to local community issues and long-standing projects that they feel in their daily lives through the annually implemented Resident Participatory Budget system,” and added, “We hope many innovative projects for community development will be submitted through this year’s Resident Participatory Budget.”

In 2020, various projects such as the “Mangusan Worry-Eating Mailbox Activation Project” and the “Rose Christmas Tree Creation Project” were implemented as part of the Resident Participatory Budget, receiving high praise from residents.

This year, about 930 million KRW and 31 projects were selected, and various projects such as the installation of the “Jarakkafe Garden” and the “Rose Tunnel Storytelling Bulletin Board” will be promoted.
