[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 27th that it will conduct a qualification verification survey this year for social security benefit recipients within the region.
Earlier, the city established an annual survey plan for the National Basic Livelihood Security Project and obtained approval through deliberation by the Local Livelihood Security Committee on the 20th.
The annual survey plan is a system established under Article 23 of the National Basic Livelihood Security Act, which sets an annual plan regarding recipients, survey methods, and survey timing, conducting at least one regular survey annually as well as monthly and occasional verification surveys.
The city will use 82 types of information provided by 25 institutions through the Social Security Information System to investigate income, property, and personal information of 18 types of social security benefit recipients in the region, including basic livelihood security, basic pension, and single-parent families.
Additionally, the welfare needs of beneficiaries will be surveyed, considering household situations and characteristics such as health status, work ability, housing conditions, and the support ability of obligated supporters based on their income and property.
During this process, the city plans to provide an opportunity for explanation to recipients who are unable to receive support from obligated supporters due to family relationship breakdowns and to conduct fact-finding investigations to ensure that their rights are protected as much as possible.
In particular, the city explained that households whose welfare benefits are suspended or terminated due to failure to meet social security benefit criteria during the survey will be linked with customized welfare teams in eup, myeon, and dong districts to prevent welfare blind spots through case management, public assistance, and connection with private resources.
Lee Chun-hee, Mayor of Sejong City, said, “We will actively identify beneficiaries struggling with their livelihoods due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and strive to ensure they receive livelihood support within the system.”
