[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…Davis Love III (USA) has been appointed as the captain of the 2022 Presidents Cup U.S. team.

Golf.com USA reported on the 27th (Korean time) that "Love III will lead the U.S. team in next year's Presidents Cup, a competition against the International Team excluding Europe." Love III said, "It is a tremendous honor to be captain," and added, "I will assemble the best players to deliver a great competition." Established in 1994 and held biennially, the event will take place from September 19 next year at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

Originally scheduled for this year, it was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Historically, the U.S. team holds a dominant record of 11 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss. Love III is a veteran with 21 PGA Tour wins, including the 1997 major PGA Championship. He served as the U.S. team captain in the Ryder Cup in 2012 and 2016, but this is his first time leading the Presidents Cup. The International Team captain is Trevor Immelman (South Africa).
