Gwanak S-Valley Development, Establishment of Gang Gam-chan City Gwanak Brand, Notable Achievements in Innovative Gwanak Office Operation... Keeping Promises with Residents through On-Site Administration and Pledge Project Progress Meetings Since 2021 Start
Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, visited the site of a major project during the 7th local government term (Sillim Line light rail construction site) on the 21st.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The public pledge projects of the 7th Gwanak-gu administration (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) are making rapid progress with an implementation rate of 81.2%.
According to the district, since the launch of the 7th administration, out of a total of 72 action tasks, 15 projects have been completed ahead of schedule, 55 projects are progressing normally, and 2 projects have become difficult to proceed due to internal and external changes. The district stated that it is making every effort to fulfill the pledges through proactive administration.
With innovation, communication, and cooperation as the core principles, the district has been steadily achieving the 72 action tasks promised to residents under six major goals over the past two and a half years to realize the "Together, Leading Gwanak-gu": Together Economy, Together Welfare, Leading Education and Culture, Leading Transportation, Clean Living Environment, and Innovative Gwanak Office.
First, through the "Gwanak S Valley Development" project, the district established the Nakseong Venture Startup Center main branch and R&D center, which will serve as hubs for the venture valley, as well as the Seoul Startup Cafe Nakseongdae branch, laying the foundation for startup growth.
Additionally, based on the capabilities of local resources such as Seoul National University, the district is promoting the University Campus Town project, developing the Nakseongdae and Daehak-dong areas into a startup mecca, thereby improving Gwanak's economic structure for the "Together Economy."
In the "Together Welfare" sector, meaningful achievements were made by being designated a women-friendly city and obtaining UNICEF Child-Friendly City certification.
Moreover, the district expanded 11 public daycare centers, achieving the target of 50% utilization of public daycare centers ahead of schedule. Furthermore, efforts are being accelerated to build a (tentatively named) Family Culture Welfare Center, which is expected to bring warmth in the first half of this year.
The 7th administration's "Gang Gam-chan Festival" attracted a record 230,000 participants, establishing itself as Korea's representative historical and cultural festival. The district also designated Gang Gam-chan-daero as an honorary road and co-named Nakseongdae Station as Gang Gam-chan Station, firmly establishing the city brand of "Gang Gam-chan City Gwanak."
The "Sillim Line" light rail is currently 73.1% complete, aiming for completion in February 2022. The "Seobu Line" will be extended to the front gate of Seoul National University, and early construction is planned for the "Nangok Line" light rail, which has been converted to a financial project. These initiatives mark a groundbreaking turning point in improving the long-awaited transportation environment for Gwanak residents, realizing "Leading Transportation" Gwanak as a transportation hub with connections in all directions.
Achievements are also notable in creating green healing spaces for communication and sharing, such as the Gwanaksan Leading Park, Dorimcheon Special Project, Together Urban Agriculture Park, and Gwanaksan Adventure Forest, linking Gwanaksan Mountain and Dorimcheon Stream to create a "Clean Living Environment" Gwanak.
In particular, the implementation rate of the "Innovative Gwanak Office" sector, which emphasizes communication and innovative administration, is 90.6%, the highest among the six major goals, reflecting District Mayor Park Jun-hee's efforts who values residents' participation and dialogue in district administration above all.
At the beginning of the new year, Mayor Park personally visited 12 sites over three days from the 19th to the 21st, including the Family Culture Welfare Center, Seoul Startup Center Gwanak, Sillim Line light rail, and Starlight Sinsari Commercial Renaissance Project, carefully checking for any shortcomings and areas needing improvement in project implementation to ensure smooth progress of the major pledged projects promised to residents.
Additionally, on the morning of the 26th, the district held a progress report meeting on the 7th administration's pledge projects, where departments reported on their progress, reviewed issues in major projects, and discussed promotion plans and concrete action plans.
District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "This year is a crucial time when the major projects promised to residents in the 7th administration will produce tangible results that residents can feel." He added, "While managing the crisis caused by COVID-19 meticulously, all staff efforts are needed to ensure that the major projects promised to residents produce definite results that can be felt firsthand."
