[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The 'No. 1 Gyeonggi-do-type Lifelong Education Support Center for Adults with Developmental Disabilities,' aimed at helping adults with developmental disabilities in Gyeonggi-do become independent, opened on the 26th in Gyomun-dong, Guri-si.

Guri-si stated on this day, "In response to the COVID-19 situation, we have started full-scale operations by conducting sessions simultaneously online and offline using Zoom and YouTube."

The Guri-si Lifelong Education Center for Adults with Developmental Disabilities operates comprehensive classes (6 courses) and specialized classes (4 courses) for adults aged 18 and over with developmental disabilities.

The comprehensive classes include daily living training, social adaptation training, communication training, and vocational transition education necessary for adults with developmental disabilities, and are currently recruiting participants.

The specialized classes will begin operation in March and will be specialized with courses in vocation, culture, leisure, and arts and physical education.

In his commemorative speech, An Seung-nam, mayor of Guri-si, said, "We will not be complacent with the opening of the center today, but will create a special city of happiness for citizens, Guri-si, where people with and without disabilities live together without distinction."

The opening ceremony was attended by An Seung-nam, mayor of Guri-si, Kim Hyung-su, chairman of the city council, city council members, and Yoon Jong-sul, representative of the National Parents' Association for the Disabled.
