[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) is conducting the "Mind Talk Talk Parent Counseling" program for parents and caregivers at the Dongdaemun-gu Childcare Support Center (hereafter the Center) until December.
The Center runs the program to detect early parenting stress experienced by parents and caregivers, individual psychological and emotional difficulties, and behavioral and emotional problems in infants and toddlers, aiming to prevent child abuse.
The Center provides parenting-related counseling for parents who find parenting difficult and conducts psychological tests to assess parenting stress and the psychological health status of caregivers.
Additionally, if parents face difficulties in parenting due to developmental delays in infants and toddlers or psychological difficulties, further assessments are conducted to support stable childcare.
Especially this year, the Center is enhancing counseling expertise by supporting the costs of individual counseling with psychological specialists.
Counseling is available via phone, online, or face-to-face, but currently, phone and online counseling are recommended in accordance with social distancing measures.
Applications for counseling can be made through the Dongdaemun-gu Childcare Support Center website and by phone.
Meanwhile, Dongdaemun-gu continuously supports the holistic development of infants and toddlers, stable parenting for parents, and strives to improve the quality of childcare environments in daycare centers to create a child-friendly city and an environment that respects children's rights without child abuse.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We aim to provide practical support to parents and caregivers to alleviate psychological and emotional difficulties experienced during parenting and ultimately prevent child abuse. We will continue to develop programs that strengthen parents' capabilities so that they can perform their roles properly and desirably, and ultimately ensure that infants and toddlers grow up healthy and safe.”
