Car Theft Suspect's Act... Abandoned Baby and Fled
Delivery Worker "Seeing the Baby Alone on the Street... Felt Choked Up"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] In the United States, a newborn baby abandoned by a car thief on the roadside was reunited with her mother thanks to the help of a passing delivery driver.
According to ABC News on the 25th (local time), Juan Carlos Flores, who works as an Amazon delivery driver in Houston, Texas, happened to find the baby abandoned on the roadside while delivering packages that day.
The 5-month-old infant was strapped in a child safety seat in a vehicle at the edge of a residential back road. The situation looked so precarious that a serious accident caused by passing vehicles would not have been surprising.
Flores said, "I was overwhelmed the moment I got closer," and shared his feelings at the time, "I couldn't believe the baby was alone on the street."
Flores immediately took the baby to a nearby house, asked them to watch the baby for a moment, and then reported it to the police. The police, who were searching for the baby's whereabouts nearby, quickly arrived, and the mother who came with them burst into tears as she was reunited with her baby.
It was investigated that the car thief stole the mother's vehicle along with the baby and then abandoned the baby.
According to nearby surveillance cameras, the baby had been left on the roadside since the morning, and for 22 minutes before Flores stopped his vehicle, delivery vehicles passed by but no one stopped to rescue the baby. The police are currently tracking the suspect.
Flores, who started working as a delivery driver last year, said, "I have delivered thousands of packages, but this delivery was the best," adding, "It was the best moment I have experienced since having this job."
