Gimcheon City Appoints Kim Jaewang, Former Gimcheon Deputy Mayor, as First Chairman of Facility Management Corporation

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gimcheon City, Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 26th that it has appointed Kim Jae-kwang, former Deputy Mayor of Gimcheon City, as the inaugural chairman of the Facility Management Corporation launching this year.


Three non-standing directors were appointed: Park Ki-hyun, former Head of Safety and Disaster Division of Gimcheon City; Kim Young-jo, former Senior Manager at Yuhan-Kimberly; and Kim Han-joo, former Head of the Nonghyup Central Association Gimcheon Branch. Their terms will be three years starting from February 1. They were selected through a public recruitment process by the Executive Recommendation Committee.


Chairman Kim Jae-kwang, a native of Gimcheon, served in public office for 39 years, overseeing the establishment and operation of local corporations such as the Gyeongbuk Development Corporation and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Economic Promotion Agency. He also served as Deputy Mayor of Mungyeong, Director of Welfare and Health Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, and Deputy Mayor of Gimcheon.


Chairman Kim stated, "Local public enterprises operate to enhance residents' welfare, pursuing public and economic values while improving public services. I will do my best to make the corporation satisfactory to citizens through social contribution, job creation, and establishing a sustainable ethical management system."


Meanwhile, Gimcheon City plans to form the board of directors in February, conduct handovers of duties for each facility, and launch the Facility Management Corporation by the end of April. The corporation will be entrusted with operating six public facilities: the indoor swimming pool, National Sports Center, Samyeongdaesa Park, Municipal Museum, Municipal Memorial Park, and Ecological Experience Village.
