[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Namwon City, Jeonbuk announced on the 26th that it will implement a water bill reduction for severely disabled households registered in the jurisdiction starting from the next water bill issuance.
The main content of the reduction system, implemented through partial amendments to the Namwon City Water Supply Ordinance and Sewerage Supply Ordinance, is to reduce the water usage amount by 5 tons (5,280 KRW) per severely disabled household, and if applied before the 10th of each month, the reduction benefit can be received from the month of application.
To apply, the head of the household or a household member must visit the relevant eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare center with a copy of the previous month's water bill and an ID card to fill out the reduction application form.
This reduction benefit does not overlap with the existing water bill reduction for National Basic Livelihood Security recipients, and support is provided only to those registered as severely disabled under the Disabled Welfare Act. If the qualification is lost, the household is excluded from the reduction target.
Jo Hwanik, Director of the Resident Welfare Division, said, “We expect economic support for disabled households vulnerable to economic activities through the reduction of water bills, which are essential for daily life, and hope that no household misses the opportunity to apply and receive benefits.”
