Chosun University Central Library Opens 'Repository AI·Big Data Information Center'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Chosun University Central Library announced on the 26th that it has opened the 'Chosun University Repository and AI & Big Data Information Center,' which will systematically manage all on-campus research achievements centered on artificial intelligence (AI) and serve as an AI regional specialization project information center while disseminating them domestically and internationally.

Last year, Chosun University Central Library was selected as a distribution institution for the National Knowledge Information Construction Project (OAK Repository · Open Access Korea) by the National Library of Korea, the first in the Honam region.

The OAK Repository is a Korean-style open access archive that the National Library of Korea has been distributing since 2014 through a public contest targeting universities and research institutes nationwide. It registers and manages research achievements produced by affiliated researchers of each institution so that materials can be accessed worldwide.

The Chosun University Repository and AI & Big Data Information Center is the result of Chosun University's project launched last year as part of the OAK Repository with the goal of "providing information one step ahead and building a vibrant future information center."

In particular, by linking Gwangju City's AI-centered city project with Chosun University's specialization strategy, it plans to systematically manage and operate all on-campus research achievements centered on AI and serve as an AI regional specialization project information center to distribute and expand them domestically and internationally.

At the opening ceremony, Min Young-don, President of Chosun University, said, "In response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, Chosun University Central Library proactively participated in the opening of the AI & Big Data Information Center and the OAK National Repository project in line with the specialization strategy and regional specialized national projects," adding, "I believe the Central Library will take the lead in externally demonstrating our university's capabilities."

Choi Han-cheol, Director of Chosun University Central Library, said, "The Chosun University Repository and AI & Big Data Information Center is a national-level OAK system, and through this, by sharing research achievements and technologies that have been dormant within the university globally, it is expected to contribute to strengthening our university's competitiveness."
