[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] The Muan Fire Station in Jeonnam (Chief Park Won-guk) announced on the 26th that since the 25th, it has been conducting a "One Vehicle, One Fire Extinguisher" campaign to prevent human and property damage caused by vehicle fires, starting with providing guidance and usage promotion to drivers visiting vehicle inspection centers.

Vehicle fire extinguishers have been mandated for hazardous material transport vehicles, gas transport trucks, and passenger vehicles with seven or more seats under the regulations concerning the performance and standards of automobiles and automobile parts.

However, general vehicles such as five-seater cars are excluded from this requirement, making voluntary installation urgently needed. Vehicle fires typically occur while in transit and take considerable time before firefighters arrive, making initial response virtually impossible without a fire extinguisher.

Vehicles use highly flammable materials such as gasoline for fuel and urethane for interior materials, causing rapid fire spread and, in severe cases, explosions.

Especially since using water is difficult and extinguishing the fire when it spreads throughout the vehicle is impossible with a fire extinguisher, it is essential to suppress the fire at an early stage.

Vehicle fire extinguishers are products improved through vibration tests to prevent leakage, damage, or deformation of the contents. They must be marked "For Automobile Use" on the body, stored inside the vehicle rather than in the trunk, and if equipped with an emergency hammer capable of breaking glass, they enable escape and initial fire suppression in dangerous situations.

Chief Park Won-guk stated, "Initial fire suppression in vehicle fires is of utmost importance," and urged, "Everyone should keep a fire extinguisher within reach inside the vehicle, ready for quick use like a reliable friend, to protect the precious lives and property of their families."
