[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family plans to enact related laws to impose sanctions if recommendations for corrective actions from the National Human Rights Commission are not followed.

On the 26th, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family stated, "If corrective recommendations such as victim restoration and system improvements from the Human Rights Commission are not implemented, the Minister of Gender Equality and Family will directly issue corrective orders and impose sanctions for non-compliance by promoting related legislation."

Regarding the Human Rights Commission's announcement the previous day, which judged the late Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon's actions as sexual harassment, the Ministry said, "Most of the system improvement requests related to the Ministry from the Human Rights Commission were reflected in the measures announced last November, and we will actively take further actions."

In December of last year, the Ministry established dedicated reporting channels for local governments, education offices, and heads of public institutions, and on the 25th, distributed a standard guideline to prevent secondary damage from violence against women.

The Ministry explained, "We newly established gender-equal organizational culture as an evaluation indicator for local governments and reflected it in this year's indicators. We have also been working together to improve organizational culture through meetings such as city and provincial directors' conferences and consultations with local governments. Additionally, we will actively pursue preventive policies by strengthening related organizations for public institution prevention education inspections, public disclosure of underperforming institutions, and diagnosis and consulting for local government organizational culture to spread gender-equal organizational culture."
