[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry is taking steps to support the expansion of recruitment in the digital and IT sectors, where local companies' workforce demand is increasing in the untact era, and to assist long-term employment at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies.
On the 26th, the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Heo Yong-do) announced the launch of the 2021 'Youth Digital Job Project' and 'Youth Tomorrow Savings Project' in collaboration with the Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office, and began recruiting participating personnel and companies.
The 'Youth Digital Job Project' is a newly initiated program to support recruitment by local companies in related fields due to the increased workforce demand in untact-based businesses caused by COVID-19.
Through this project, SMEs and mid-sized companies in the region that hire new employees for digital and IT positions will receive support of up to 11.4 million KRW for six months.
The 'Youth Tomorrow Savings Project' provides government support funds of 9 million KRW when newly employed regular workers at SMEs and mid-sized companies accumulate 3 million KRW over two years.
Since the project started in 2016, about 2,850 people have participated over five years, encouraging long-term employment of youth at local SMEs and mid-sized companies and significantly aiding in the formation of basic assets, leading to increasing demand every year.
The number of people supported annually for each project is 500, and the eligibility includes newly employed youth aged 15 to 34 and SMEs and mid-sized companies with five or more employees covered by employment insurance.
Youth seeking to participate in the Youth Digital Job Project and Youth Tomorrow Savings Project, as well as recruiting companies, can apply to the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Both projects offer the advantage that if eligibility requirements are met, both companies and workers can receive support.
A representative of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated, "We hope to help facilitate the workforce supply and demand of local companies by supporting recruitment in digital and IT positions, where workforce demand has increased due to COVID-19," and added, "We will continue to invigorate local youth job creation through various job support projects."
