Government Submits 210 Bills Including Personal Information Protection Act to National Assembly This Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The government will submit 210 bills under the jurisdiction of 28 ministries to the National Assembly this year.

The Legislation Office announced on the 26th that it reported the '2021 Government Legislative Plan' at the Cabinet meeting.

According to the legislative plan, 124 bills (59.1%) will be submitted during the extraordinary sessions of the National Assembly (January to August, December), and 86 bills (40.9%) during the regular session (September to November).

Major bills to be submitted this year include amendments to the 'Personal Information Protection Act' and the 'Legal Aid Act.'

The Legislation Office establishes a government legislative plan every year by comprehensively coordinating the legislative and amendment plans of government ministries. The established plan is reported to the Cabinet meeting and notified to the National Assembly in accordance with the National Assembly Act.

Director Lee Kangseop said, "This year is an important time to complete the legalization of major policy tasks," adding, "We will do our best to fully support each ministry's policies legislatively to overcome the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis."
