[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Ju-hyung] A man in his 20s who approached a 10-year-old girl pretending to be an elementary school student and demanded to be fed milk, among other bizarre acts, was sentenced to probation.

The Uijeongbu District Court Criminal Division 2 (Judge Park Chang-woo) announced on the 25th that it sentenced Mr. A, who was indicted on charges of luring a minor, to six months in prison with a two-year probation. The court also ordered probation supervision for Mr. A.

The court explained the sentencing reason, saying, "The crime is serious as the defendant lured a child with impure intentions," but added, "However, considering that the defendant admitted the crime and reflected on his wrongdoing, is a first-time offender, did not use violence or show intimidating behavior toward the victim, and does not appear to have lured the victim for the purpose of committing a specific crime."

Mr. A is accused of using a smartphone chat application to find a friend on January 6 last year, impersonating the mother of a child with a disability, and then approaching and luring Ms. B.

At that time, Mr. A sent a message to Ms. B saying, "I am the mother of a child with a disability, and my child is scheduled to transfer to the same school as you, so please play well when you meet at school," and obtained Ms. B's chat app ID.

Afterward, Mr. A pretended to be an elementary school student and exchanged messages with Ms. B.

He also sent a message saying, "My mom wants you to be friends with me. Please meet me before school and teach me how to make friends and adapt to school," and called Ms. B to a playground in an apartment complex in Guri-si, Gyeonggi Province.

When Mr. A met Ms. B at the playground, he took out a letter he claimed was written by his mother and told Ms. B to read it. The letter contained instructions such as "Be careful after meeting A (do not disclose the fact that you met)," "A must be fed milk with a baby bottle," and "Check the diaper if A whines."

Then, Mr. A took out a baby bottle filled with banana-flavored milk from his bag and gave it to Ms. B, demanding, "Feed me like a baby." Frightened, Ms. B pushed Mr. A away, ran away, and reported to the police.
