Jeonnam Provincial Council Opens Extraordinary Session on the 26th to Address 'Minsheng Issues' Jeonnam Provincial Council


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Council will hold the 349th extraordinary session, the first session of the year, for eight days from the 26th of this month to the 2nd of next month.


According to the Jeonnam Provincial Council on the 25th, on the first day of the session, the 26th, during the 1st plenary meeting, they will listen to work reports on the 2021 provincial administration and educational administration from Governor Kim Young-rok and Superintendent Jang Seok-woong.


Also, each standing committee will review work reports from the relevant departments, public enterprises, and affiliated institutions, as well as various ordinances closely related to the livelihood economy, including the Jeollanam-do Essential Workers Protection and Support Ordinance, the Jeollanam-do Rural Liquefied Petroleum Gas Supply Facility Support Ordinance, and the Jeollanam-do Island Area Passenger Ship Fare Support Ordinance. These will be finally approved at the 2nd plenary meeting on the 2nd of next month.


The Health, Welfare, and Environment Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council plans to carefully address livelihood issues and COVID-19 response during this first session of the year, check the status of COVID-19 vaccination preparations, while the Education Committee will focus on preparations for online classes.


Chairman Kim Han-jong said, “During this extraordinary session, please passionately discuss the major work reports of 2021 and strive to prepare policies that can be trusted by the residents,” and added, “Please carefully review whether policies that resonate with the residents are properly reflected and make further efforts to resolve livelihood issues.”


Spokesperson Choi Seon-guk stated, “Throughout last year, we did our best to overcome COVID-19 through active legislative activities such as three supplementary budgets and ordinance amendments to support small business owners,” and added, “This year as well, we will prioritize the livelihood of residents and mobilize all policy capabilities for economic recovery that all residents can feel directly.”


Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Provincial Council has set a total of 126 days of legislative schedules this year (60 days for regular sessions, 66 days for extraordinary sessions) and plans to dynamically carry out legislative activities that bring dreams and happiness to the residents.
