[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 25th that it will implement the 2021 Integrated Cultural Voucher Project (Munhwa Nuri Card) targeting 67,228 people.
The Munhwa Nuri Card is a project promoted to provide cultural enjoyment opportunities to marginalized groups. This year, it will support a total of about 6.7 billion KRW, with 100,000 KRW per person, an increase of 10,000 KRW from last year.
In particular, a new automatic recharge system for the Munhwa Nuri Card has been introduced, so if eligibility is maintained, the support funds will be recharged to the card held without a separate application process.
Eligibility for automatic recharge can be checked in the notices section on the Munhwa Nuri Card website. The automatic recharge period is from the 28th to the 29th, and once the recharge is completed, a text message will be sent to the recipient's mobile phone.
New issuers (including those excluded from automatic recharge) can visit their local community service center or use the Munhwa Nuri Card website, mobile app, or ARS to issue and recharge the card from November 1st to November 30th.
Additionally, about 1,200 foster children under the age of 14, who were previously in the blind spot of Munhwa Nuri Card support, can apply by submitting a ‘Foster Care Confirmation Letter’ through their foster parents or guardians. Until last year, foster children could not apply without a legal representative.
Accordingly, it is expected that the number of Munhwa Nuri Card users, which was mainly operated for basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups, will expand further.
Furthermore, Gwangju City plans to focus on discovering non-face-to-face affiliated stores such as online and phone payment to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and allow safe cultural activities at home, and to support the development and use of products linked to local festivals.
Details on the issuance of the 2021 Munhwa Nuri Card and other information can be found at the local community service center or the frequently asked questions section on the Munhwa Nuri Card website.
Kim Jun-young, Director of the Cultural Tourism and Sports Office of the city, said, “We will create an environment where citizens who find it difficult to enjoy cultural life due to economic circumstances can be comforted and find happiness through culture and arts by making the Munhwa Nuri Card more convenient to use.”
