[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]On the 25th, the United States Forces Korea (USFK) announced that 12 individuals, including 10 USFK soldiers and 2 family members who recently arrived in South Korea, tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The confirmed cases were among those who entered the country between the 8th and 20th of this month. Of the total 12, five tested positive immediately after arrival. The remaining seven tested positive during the mandatory quarantine release testing.
With this, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases related to USFK has risen to 665. Meanwhile, as COVID-19 cases have continued to emerge within US military bases, the USFK has extended the 'stay-at-home order' for personnel assigned to Yongsan Garrison until the 27th. This measure is also being applied to some personnel assigned to Camp Humphreys (Pyeongtaek).
