[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] As the so-called 'home-stay' lifestyle has prolonged due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), sales of cleanliness-related home appliances have significantly increased. This trend is expected to continue this year along with the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Cuckoo Electronics announced on the 25th that dishwashers and cordless vacuum cleaners showed steady sales growth at the end of last year.
In particular, the sales growth of dishwashers was remarkable. In the fourth quarter of last year, Cuckoo's dishwasher sales increased by 105% compared to the previous quarter. Countertop-style dishwashers for 3-person and 6-person use, which have consistently attracted consumer interest due to their high space efficiency since their launch, rose by 106% during the same period. Among them, the sales growth rate of the 6-person dishwasher compared to the previous quarter reached 145%.
The sales growth rate of cordless vacuum cleaners was also considerable. The sales volume of 'Inspure Powerclone,' Cuckoo's first cordless vacuum cleaner, in the fourth quarter of last year increased by 20% compared to the previous quarter. The Inspure Powerclone quickly increased its market share after launch by applying an ergonomic design that reduces physical burden.
A Cuckoo representative stated, "As the home-stay lifestyle is expected to continue this year, more people have made maintaining a comfortable indoor environment their New Year's resolution," adding, "We will help customers lead a healthy daily life with products equipped with Cuckoo's unique purification technology."
