[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Homeplus announced on the 25th that it will conduct the main sales of Lunar New Year gift sets across all channels including large marts, Express stores, and online until the 13th of next month, showcasing over 1,000 products.
Customers paying with 12 major event cards and My Homeplus membership members will receive up to a 30% discount, and depending on the purchase amount, benefits such as gift certificates worth up to 500,000 KRW will be provided. Additionally, delivery will be extended beyond the holiday period, with free shipping for purchases over 30,000 KRW and same-day delivery for online orders to enhance customer convenience.
During last year’s pre-order sales period for Lunar New Year gift sets, Homeplus increased the composition of health-related items by 124% compared to the same period the previous year. Reflecting consumer trends toward purchasing high-priced gifts and the temporary increase in the gift value limit under the Kim Young-ran Act (Improper Solicitation and Graft Act) during the holiday period, premium sets priced over 100,000 KRW were also expanded. As a representative product, the quantity of differentiated Hanwoo (Korean beef) sets in the livestock category was increased by 270% compared to last Lunar New Year. Home economy items for customers who enjoy ‘home cafe’ and ‘home drinking’ were also prepared.
A Homeplus official stated, “The trend of substituting the regret of giving up returning home with gifts continues during the holiday season,” adding, “We will continue large-scale promotions during the holiday period not only to support customers preparing gifts but also to assist fresh farmers and small and medium-sized partner companies facing difficulties.”
