Mapo-gu Operates 'Books Carry Love' Mind Prescription Program

Sharing Warmth and Enhancing Sensitivity Through 'Books and Postcards' for Comfort in the COVID Era... Sharing Postcard Messages via Online and Offline Channels to Relieve COVID Blues Through Warm Communication

Mapo-gu Operates 'Books Carry Love' Mind Prescription Program

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) will operate the program "Books Carry Love," which comforts and sends regards to each other through books and postcards, starting from the 26th.

This program, prepared to help alleviate COVID-19-related blues, is a small everyday event where warmth can be shared through the mediums of books and postcards.

"Books Carry Love" is open to all Mapo-gu residents or users of Mapo-gu public libraries.

Residents borrowing books receive a postcard containing questions related to "comfort in the COVID era," write their responses, and submit them. The library collects these and shares them through online and offline channels.

The questions on the postcards include five topics: ▲ A comforting sentence or passage from a book? (Drawing a comforting picture) ▲ A book, music, or movie suitable for a day like today? ▲ My small personal goal or wish for this year? ▲ A hobby developed while staying at home during the COVID era? ▲ What is the first thing you want to do once COVID is gone? These aim to share comfort through books and hope for overcoming COVID-19.

As non-face-to-face communication expands due to COVID-19, the district expects this event to provide special and precious moments of sending comfort and regards to each other through the analog sentiment of postcards.

A library official said, "We hope that Mapo-gu public libraries can serve as a bridge connecting the warm hearts of residents through the operation of the 'Books Carry Love' program."

Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "In this prolonged COVID era, I hope this becomes an opportunity for our residents to move forward as one community through warm comfort and communication in daily life."

This program is available at 15 Mapo-gu public libraries and will end when the prepared question postcards run out.
