Gangnam-gu and HDC i-Service Visit 40 Vulnerable Households for Disinfection and Sanitization

Disinfection Activities Conducted at Group Homes for Disabled, Community Child Welfare Centers, and Vulnerable Households Visits

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) conducted disinfection and quarantine activities on the 22nd, visiting 40 locations including group homes for the disabled and vulnerable households, in collaboration with the facility maintenance company HDC i-Service, as part of the "Making Gangnam Safe" initiative.

The operation deployed 12 specialized disinfection vehicles and involved 12 teams composed of 5 staff members from the Gangnam-gu Volunteer Center and 36 volunteers from HDC i-Service.

The targets for disinfection included 20 group homes for the disabled, 3 local children's centers (Gangnam, Neighbors Love, Vision School), 15 vulnerable households in poor residential environments around Gaepo and Suseo-dong, the LH 3 Complex Visiting Welfare Center, and the Suseo Myunghwa Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.

Prior to the disinfection activities, the district conducted preliminary inspections to understand the characteristics of each location for customized disinfection and sought understanding and cooperation from local residents. To block infection sources, all volunteers wore protective suits during the operation.

Common areas with many high-touch points, such as stair handrails and computers, underwent surface sterilization.

Ultrafine particle continuous spraying was used to remove aerosol-form viruses indoors, and kitchen utensils and bedding were sterilized using ultraviolet (UV) light.

Im Dong-ho, Director of the Resident Autonomy Division, said, "We hope to provide even a small amount of support to vulnerable groups who are facing unprecedented difficulties due to the COVID-19 crisis combined with the cold wave," adding, "We will focus on eliminating any gaps in quarantine through thorough disinfection and sterilization."
