[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Geochang County Council in Gyeongnam began its full-scale legislative activities starting with the opening of the first extraordinary session of 2021, scheduled for eight days from the 22nd to the 29th.

This 254th extraordinary session plans to handle various agenda items including listening to reports on the implementation plans for major county administration tasks in 2021, the first supplementary budget proposal of 2021, and ordinance proposals.

Chairman Kim Jong-du stated in his greeting, “With the passage of the complete revision of the Local Autonomy Act, I believe this is a groundbreaking opportunity to realize true parliamentary democracy reflecting the changed local administrative environment. Although slow, we will steadily move forward step by step like the proverb Ubo Cheonri (牛步千里), and strive for further development of the Geochang County Council.”

He added, “Although COVID-19, which we thought would end last summer, still remains with us, just as tree rings grown through enduring winter become stronger wood, if we endure and persevere through the current situation, this year will be a brighter and more hopeful year.”

The Geochang County Council will form a special budget and settlement committee to review the first supplementary budget proposal, and a special committee to listen to reports on major county administration implementation plans. Starting from the 25th, it will begin reviewing the first supplementary budget proposal, followed by the review of ordinance and general proposals, and listening to reports on major task implementation plans.
