Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju to Remove Old Signs at Risk of Falling

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 22nd that starting next month, it will begin maintenance of old and dangerous signs that have been left unattended for a long time, threatening citizen safety and damaging the cityscape.

For this maintenance, the 21 dong administrative welfare centers in the district will first conduct applications and receptions from building owners, as well as a full on-site survey of old signs.

After the survey, signs to be maintained will be selected considering the degree of aging and risk, and maintenance is planned to be completed by June.

Among the signs to be maintained, those with owners will be encouraged to voluntarily remove them, but if there are no owners, removal will be carried out directly with the consent of building owners or managers.

The main maintenance targets are ▲ signs left unattended for a long time due to business closure or relocation ▲ signs severely damaged and posing a risk of falling accidents ▲ signs left unattended by the roadside without managers.

A Gwangsan-gu official said, “Through this maintenance, we will prevent safety accidents and protect the lives of citizens.”
