Suncheon City Recruiting Steering Committee Members for the 10 Million Trees Planting Citizen Movement Headquarters

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 22nd that it is recruiting the 2nd term operating committee members of the 10 Million Trees Planting Citizens' Movement Headquarters by the 5th of next month to create public consensus and a boom among citizens for planting 10 million trees and to develop it into a city-wide movement.

The eligibility for applying as an operating committee member of the Citizens' Movement Headquarters includes citizens interested in tree planting, experts related to forestry, landscaping, gardening, environment, people with experience in civic organizations, forest interpreters, and garden interpreters.

Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the Suncheon City and 10 Million Trees Planting websites and sending it via email, fax, visit, or mail. Through document screening, 30 to 50 people will be selected.

The operating committee members of the 10 Million Trees Planting Citizens' Movement Headquarters will play a leading role in promoting the city-wide tree planting movement such as citizens having companion trees, developing and distributing tree planting and post-management programs, and issuing and distributing promotional and best practice materials related to tree planting. They will be active for two years starting from March.

The 10 Million Trees Planting project involves planting and nurturing companion trees such as child trees and commemorative trees to actively respond to environmental issues like fine dust and heat waves, cultivating Suncheon as a livable forest city. In particular, it is being promoted to spread an ecological culture that considers the environment, starting with the planting of companion trees.
