[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] On the 21st, following Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung, An Seung-nam, Mayor of Guri City, met with Yoon Ho-jung, Guri City Regional Chairman (Chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee), and Byeon Chang-heum, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, at the Legislation and Judiciary Committee Chairman's office in the National Assembly main building to request the establishment of a metropolitan traffic improvement plan for the Galmae district in Guri City.
On this day, Mayor An delivered a petition signed by about 5,800 residents regarding the 'GTX-B Galmae Station stop proposal' and requested administrative support for the integrated development of the Galmae Public Housing District and the Taereung Golf Course Public Housing District.
The metropolitan traffic system improvement proposals include ▲prioritizing the GTX-B line stop at Galmae Station in Guri City ▲extension of the Seoul light rail (Myeonmok Line) ▲direct operation connecting the Gyeongchun Line and Bundang Line ▲establishment of a metropolitan transfer center at Galmae Station ▲prompt consultation on the bus public garage GB in the Sanodong area ▲expansion of the metropolitan road between Guri IC and Taereung ▲construction of a connecting road between Sanmaru-ro and Hwarang-ro ▲and establishment of Galmae IC.
Furthermore, requests were made for exemption from the preliminary feasibility study for the Guri e-commerce logistics complex project, revision of logistics complex development guidelines to convert the wholesale market into logistics facilities, and national government support (approximately 260 billion KRW) for the logistics complex development project.
Mayor An emphasized, "Although nearly 10,000 households have settled in Galmae-dong, proper traffic measures have not been established, causing severe traffic inconvenience for both new residents of Galmae New Town and citizens of Guri City," adding, "On behalf of 200,000 Guri citizens, I earnestly request the confirmation of integrated development of the Galmae Station area and Taereung Golf Course to ensure the establishment of metropolitan traffic measures for Galmae-dong."
He continued, "Among the measures Guri City has continuously proposed to reduce the interval of Gyeongchun Line trains, the shuttle train operation between Sangbong and Maseok was reflected in the August last year metropolitan traffic improvement plan for the Taereung CC Public Housing District. I appreciate the active promotion by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and request prompt operation to alleviate traffic inconvenience for residents of the Galmae district."
In response, Minister Byeon Chang-heum of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated, "During the planning process of Taereung CC, we will promote the establishment of an integrated plan linked with the Galmae Station area, and when establishing the metropolitan traffic plan for Taereung CC, we will consider and review the Galmae district."
Assemblyman Yoon Ho-jung also promised to consult with related agencies, stating, "Including the existing Galmae Bogeumjari Housing District, the Galmae Station area district promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Taereung CC Public Housing District, about 67,000 people are expected to reside within a 1.5KM radius of Galmae Station, so integrated development including the metropolitan traffic plan for the Galmae district is essential when establishing the metropolitan traffic plan for Taereung CC."
