Sahakyeongeum Conducts Group Blood Donation to Overcome Blood Supply Shortage

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Soyeon] The Private School Teachers' Pension Service announced on the 20th that it conducted a group blood donation through the voluntary participation of its executives and employees as part of the 'Life Sharing, Love Blood Donation Campaign' to secure emergency blood supplies during the winter season.

An official from the Korean Red Cross stated that due to the third wave of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and the rapid spread of infections, there has been a nationwide reluctance to donate blood. This has led to cancellations and postponements of group blood donation schedules, minimized personal contact due to social distancing practices, and reduced individual blood donation participation due to refraining from outdoor activities, causing significant difficulties in blood supply management.

In response, the Private School Teachers' Pension Service participated in the blood donation campaign of the Korean Red Cross Gwangju-Jeonnam Blood Center to help alleviate the severe difficulties in local blood supply caused by the sharp decline in blood donation participation due to the impact of COVID-19.

The blood donation campaign was held on the 20th from 10 a.m. at the Korean Red Cross Gwangju-Jeonnam Blood Center's blood donation bus, in cooperation with the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation. To comply with quarantine guidelines, participants visited the vehicle at pre-assigned times.

Joo Myung-hyun, Director of the Private School Teachers' Pension Service, said, "Following last year, this year as well, with the uncertain end of COVID-19, our executives and employees will continue to participate in blood donation to overcome the local blood shortage crisis and help patients in urgent need of transfusions to preserve precious lives." He added, "We will continue to actively fulfill our social responsibilities as a public institution."
