[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 21st that it held a preliminary design kickoff meeting on the 20th at the county office situation room for the construction of the Marine Culture Healing Center, part of the 'Marine Healing Blue Zone Creation' project.

The Marine Culture Healing Center will be built on the Myeongsashipri site in Sinji-myeon with an investment of 1.1 billion KRW, consisting of one above-ground floor, six buildings, and a total area of 390㎡, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of December.

In particular, in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution, the center plans to establish exhibition facilities and content applying the latest technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Internet of Things (IoT) to activate marine culture healing.

Once established, the Marine Culture Healing Center is expected to provide residents and tourists with sensory healing programs based on marine cultural resources, promoting health improvement and mind-body healing through cultural activities.

Additionally, a marine healing complex will be created by integrating healing facilities such as the Marine Healing Center and Marine Climate Healing Center, which is expected to contribute to regional economic revitalization through population inflow, job creation, and income increase.

Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “Public interest in healing has increased due to COVID-19 and other factors, and the marine healing programs operated by our county have received very high satisfaction from participants,” adding, “We will provide various opportunities for marine culture healing to offer enjoyment and healing to visitors in the future.”
