Gyeongnam Province Deploys Wildfire Suppression Helicopters to Challenge 'Zero Large Wildfires'

Concentrated Deployment of Wildfire Suppression Resources through the Nation's Only Regional Cooperation System

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongnam Province announced on the 21st that since the 1st, seven wildfire suppression helicopters have been deployed forward to play a role in wildfire prevention and suppression.

These wildfire suppression helicopters are medium to large helicopters capable of carrying more than 2,500 liters of firefighting water.

They are deployed in seven zones, each grouping 2 to 3 cities/counties, to enable initial suppression within 30 minutes of wildfire occurrence.

When the Gyeongnam Wildfire Prevention Headquarters allocates helicopters by zone, it not only reduces costs but also allows for concentrated operation in cooperation with suppression helicopters from adjacent zones.

Meanwhile, the province has designated the period from the 1st to May 15th of next year as the wildfire caution period.

Accordingly, the Wildfire Prevention Headquarters has been established and operated, and with the policy goal of ‘Zero Large Wildfires,’ full efforts are being made for emergency wildfire duty.
