Promoting Hamyang-gun and Enhancing Local Vitality through Operation of Pilot Farms for Wild Ginseng Targeting Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Residents
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, was selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's public project and has been operating the Hamyang Sanyangsam Welcome Farm, established since the first half of last year, offering weekend experience farm plots to urban residents starting from November, with 54 plots leased so far.
The 'Hamyang Sanyangsam Welcome Farm' is a project that uses Sanyangsam, the county's representative anti-aging agricultural specialty product, to attract urban residents to Hamyang and provide a stable settlement foundation for return-to-farm and rural migrants.
Welcome is a compound word of chamsali (well-being) and return-to-farm/rural migration (Home coming), and it also has a double meaning of welcoming visitors to Hamyang.
The pilot farm area of the Welcome Farm averages 936㎡ per plot, and the lease price varies depending on the area but averages around 280,000 KRW (per year).
Eligibility requirements are individuals aged 19 or older who have lived outside agricultural and fishing villages (eup/myeon) for more than one year and have moved into the county within the last five years. This lease period accepts applications from the 25th to February 1st for a total of 9 pilot farm plots.
Applications are accepted in person, and detailed schedules and required documents can be found in the notices section on the county office website.
A county official stated, "Through this lease, we expect return-to-farm and rural migrants to gain experience in directly cultivating and selling the agricultural specialty product Sanyangsam, helping them settle stably and successfully cultivate Sanyangsam," adding, "Furthermore, it is expected to promote the Hamyang Sanyangsam Anti-aging Expo."
