Creativity and Thinking Skills Boosted... Jungnang-gu 'Go Go Lego Class' Held

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is operating the ‘Go Go Lego Class,’ a program that fosters creativity and provides fun learning through play, for 30 children aged 4 to 9 who are Dream Start beneficiaries until February 27.

The ‘Go Go Lego Class’ is a play-based lesson using Lego educational kits designed to help infants and lower-grade children develop imagination, creativity, and concentration, thereby enhancing their cognitive abilities.

Since March last year, the class has been held once a week for 50 minutes in small groups of fewer than five participants at the Smart Learning Center in Sinnae 2-dong’s mixed-use government building, strictly adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines.

The educational activities include various themed Lego lessons that significantly aid children’s cognitive development and concentration, such as ‘Tech Machine,’ which develops fine motor skills and brain function through screwing and unscrewing with a driver; ‘Basic Mechanics,’ exploring the movements of familiar objects, animals, and the human body; ‘Structural Learning,’ investigating basic structures like towers, bridges, and walls; and ‘Compatible Bricks,’ which stimulate imagination and fantasy.

In particular, due to high demand, the Lego class will recruit new participants among Dream Start children again in February.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “We aim to promote the holistic development of children through exploratory play-based learning tailored to the developmental characteristics of Dream Start children,” adding, “We will continue to operate the Lego class while strictly following COVID-19 prevention measures.”

The district has previously received great responses by conducting programs such as ‘Clear Vision Glasses Support,’ ‘Bangkok Home Cooking Program,’ and ‘Dongbyeonghachi Program’ for Dream Start children.
