Jeonnam Province Promotes Online and Offline Sales Events for Agricultural, Fishery, and Livestock Products Ahead of Lunar New Year

[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province is promoting a large-scale online and offline sales event for the Lunar New Year holiday as the gift limit under the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act has been temporarily raised to 200,000 won.

On the 19th, Jeonnam Province announced that it will prepare gift sets on city and county online shopping malls such as Namdo Jangteo, Haenam Miso, and Boseong Mall, which it directly operates, and hold special discount sales and prize events for the Lunar New Year.

Namdo Jangteo has prepared 49 gift sets priced between 100,000 and 200,000 won, including Korean beef, abalone, dried yellow corvina, and health functional foods, in line with the increased gift limit. Events offering discounts of up to 76% by item are also underway.

Haenam Miso, operated directly by Haenam County, offers about 20 products such as balloon flower root candy, Korean beef, and Hwangchil extract, with discounts of up to 30% per item. In particular, premium bundle sets containing rice, grains, seaweed, kelp, anchovies, and hamcho salt produced in Haenam County are available at prices of 100,000 won, 150,000 won, and 200,000 won, expanding consumer choices.

Boseong Mall, the online shopping mall of Boseong County, offers a 10% discount on all products in the mall regardless of the item, including green tea, Korean beef, black goat extract, and grub pills.

Additionally, Jeonnam Province has prepared generous Lunar New Year gift sets worth over 100,000 won, composed of preferred agricultural and marine specialty products such as Korean beef and deodeok, through 54 local food direct stores located within the province.

Furthermore, direct transaction markets for Jeonnam agricultural and marine specialty products will be operated in major cities such as the Seoul metropolitan area and Yeongnam region.

From the 20th to the 26th, a direct transaction market will be held at Kim's Club Yatap branch in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and from the 29th to February 10th at Lotte Department Store Busan Gwangbok branch, as well as from the 29th to next month 8th at Shinsegae Department Store Gwangju branch, conducting promotional events.

In addition, linked with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ ongoing “Korea Farm Discount (Agricultural and Livestock Products Discount)” campaign, an additional 20% discount event on agricultural and marine specialty products (up to 10,000 won support per person) will be held starting from the 28th.

A 20% discount will be supported when purchasing discounted items at Namdo Jangteo, city and county online malls, large supermarkets, local food direct stores, and small to medium-sized marts, while traditional markets will hold a 30% discount event.

Kang Jongcheol, Director of Agricultural Food Distribution Division of Jeonnam Province, said, “With the gift limit for agricultural, marine, and livestock products raised to 200,000 won, we hope this will provide some help to farmers and fishermen who have been struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” adding, “It will expand sales channels for agricultural and marine products and provide consumers with an opportunity to purchase at affordable prices.”
