Gwanak-gu Hosts 'Energy Saving Practice Village Competition'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will hold the 2021 Energy Saving Practice Village (Apartment) Competition to promote Eco Mileage, a low-carbon green growth practice project.

This competition was prepared to expand the citizen movement for energy saving by recruiting and selecting energy-saving practice villages, aiming to increase the Eco Mileage subscription rate and energy reduction rate.

The district will select and support outstanding apartments in energy-saving performance, Eco Mileage membership registration, and solar power facility installation among 119 apartments in the area.

The application period is until February 15, and the target is multi-family housing (apartments) in the area. Evaluation criteria include energy-saving performance (15 points), excellent energy reduction cases (20 points), Eco Mileage subscription performance and rate within the complex (60 points), and participation in greenhouse gas diagnosis consulting (5 points).

The support scale is a total of 15 million KRW for 8 complexes, with 5 million KRW for 1 grand prize complex, 3 million KRW and 2 million KRW for 2 excellent complexes, and 1 million KRW each for 5 encouragement complexes as incentives.

Meanwhile, the district evaluates households subscribed to Eco Mileage twice a year every six months based on the usage of two or more types of energy among electricity (mandatory), water, and city gas, and provides up to 100,000 mileage points annually according to the reduction rate.

The mileage can be used for cash conversion, traditional market gift certificates, eco-friendly product exchanges, and can also be donated to neighbors suffering from inconvenience due to lack of energy or used for local taxes, apartment management fees, and more.

To apply for the energy-saving practice village support project, residents can apply at their local community service center or the Gwanak-gu Green Environment Division.

Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, “We will continue to carry out various projects for energy saving, such as activating Eco Mileage subscriptions and expanding the supply of renewable energy,” and added, “We ask for active participation and interest from apartment officials and residents in the Energy Saving Practice Village Competition.”
