[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin District, held an emergency countermeasure meeting on the 17th to block the spread of additional infections caused by the increase in cluster infections in the metropolitan area and New Year's gatherings.

On this day, Mayor Kim instructed to continuously conduct proactive testing to prevent cluster infections in vulnerable facilities such as welfare and nursing facilities and medical institutions, and also ordered employees who frequently interact with the public, such as those at community service centers and district office civil service desks, to undergo proactive testing sequentially.

He also instructed to send cooperation letters to ensure that hospital and childcare/nursing facility workers in the area strictly adhere to personal quarantine measures.

He then emphasized the need to change and strengthen the district's quarantine system according to changes in the COVID-19 situation, and ordered the reorganization of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to perform efficient and practical infectious disease prevention and quarantine tasks.

Mayor Kim said, “In case of emergency situations such as cluster infections, I hope you make calm judgments for the safety and lives of the residents and respond more strongly than regulations or manuals,” and added, “Although the number of confirmed cases is decreasing, ‘complacency is forbidden,’ so I hope everyone maintains vigilance and strictly follows personal quarantine measures.”
