[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan Gijang-gun is expanding the operation of the free book delivery service called ‘Nae Saengae Cheot Doseogwan’ (My First Library in Life), which is provided to pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers, to foster a reading culture and promote the spread of reading habits.
‘Nae Saengae Cheot Doseogwan’ is a service that offers book lending and returns via delivery to pregnant women and children under 36 months of age residing in Gijang-gun.
The service is operated at five county-run public libraries: Jeonggwan Library, Jeonggwan Children’s Library, Gijang Library, Gijang Digital Library, and Daera Multipurpose Library.
Previously, the service was available to pregnant women over six months and infants under 12 months, but starting this year, the eligibility has been expanded. Now, all pregnant women and children under 36 months can use the service, allowing more families with young children to benefit.
A Gijang-gun official stated, “This public service supports pregnant women who have difficulty moving due to pregnancy during childbirth and childcare, and helps infants and toddlers develop early reading habits.”
