Former Mayor Park Won-soon Sexual Harassment Victim
"Assemblyman Nam Coined 'Victim Complainer' Term, Defaming Me"
"Creating Environment for Secondary Harm to Occur"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The victim who accused the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon of sexual harassment demanded an apology and resignation from Democratic Party lawmaker Nam In-soon, who is suspected of leaking information about the accusation.
Victim A stated in a press release on the 18th, "Lawmaker Nam created the absurd neologism 'victim complainant,' damaging my reputation and creating an environment for more serious secondary harm," adding, "It is time to acknowledge the wrongdoing of concealing the facts you knew, sincerely apologize to me, and step down from your position."
A said, "It is horrifying to think that the accused could have been informed of the accusation even before the complaint was filed," and claimed, "It seems that Lawmaker Nam is trying to frame the difference between the fact of accusation and the fact of planned accusation, but the leak of the planned accusation is more horrifying and cruel, and the anger over such an incident occurring in South Korea is greater. It seems you do not understand this."
She continued, "Your position does not belong to you but represents 'women' and 'human rights,'" and added, "I hope you stop actions that deny your entire past life."
On the same day, all of A's family members issued separate statements. Younger sibling B said in a statement, "What my sister wants is a sincere apology for former Mayor Park's sexual harassment and related secondary harms, and to return to her daily life," and requested, "I ask the prosecution, courts, and the Human Rights Commission to make every effort to uncover the truth."
Earlier, the victim filed a police complaint against former Mayor Park on July 8 last year for sexual harassment. The day after the accusation, on the 9th, Park took his own life, leading to suspicions of information leakage about the accusation. The prosecution revealed that the accusation was leaked to a women's organization just before Park was accused, then conveyed to Park through Lawmaker Nam and Seoul City Gender Advisor Im Soon-young.
