Creating Habitat Spaces for Over 210 Species in a 2,000t Scale
Enhancing Educational Content Including Biological Food Preparation Room
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] The domestic aquarium brand Aqua Planet will open 'Aqua Planet Gwanggyo' at the Suwon Convention Center complex on the 19th. This is the fifth aquarium following locations in Seoul, Ilsan, Yeosu, and Jeju.
Aqua Planet Gwanggyo, with a total floor area of 6,500㎡ (approximately 1,970 pyeong) and an aquarium capacity of 2,000 tons, will showcase over 30,000 marine creatures from about 210 species, including sand tiger sharks, small-clawed otters, and penguins.
Aqua Planet Gwanggyo's biggest feature is that it offers not only basic animal viewing but also various ecological education and hands-on experiences. The animal feeding preparation room is designed as an open kitchen, and the 'Jellyfish Lab,' where visitors can study and learn about the growth process of jellyfish, is operated as a public facility. This vividly shows the role of aquarists who raise the animals. Additionally, the upper section of the main tank, which was previously accessible only to a limited number of visitors by reservation, is now open for all customers to observe, enhancing understanding of marine life. Furthermore, six types of ecological briefings are held daily in a non-face-to-face format, covering otters, piranhas, penguins, coral reef tanks, rays, and sand tiger sharks (main tank). Special performances are also prepared. Fantastic shows such as the 'Aqua Music Show,' 'Aqua Magic Show,' and 'Aqua Art Show' will be presented in a unique way 365 days a year.
Aqua Planet Gwanggyo prioritizes safety above all for all employees and staff, conducting full disinfection twice daily at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. In addition to controlling the number of visitors according to social distancing levels, they strengthen non-face-to-face services through kiosk installations to ensure thorough quarantine management.
