CJ CheilJedang Pioneers the 'Convenience Dumpling' Market with Bibigo Cup Manduguk


[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] CJ CheilJedang announced on the 18th that it has launched the ‘Bibigo Sagol Cup Mandutguk,’ which enhances convenience while preserving the original taste and quality of ‘Bibigo Mandu’.


This new product features bite-sized Bibigo dumplings, a rich and deep sagol (beef bone) broth simmered for 8 hours, and toppings of rapidly frozen pork, green onions, and mushrooms, capturing the authentic flavor and care of mandutguk. Additionally, it comes in a ‘cup container’ form that can be prepared in just 3 minutes in a microwave (based on 1000w), allowing consumers to enjoy it more conveniently without the need to grill or steam frozen dumplings. To ensure the highest product quality, CJ CheilJedang has also established automated facilities for ‘cup mandutguk’ production at its Incheon freezing plant, laying the foundation for scaling up the new product.


With the launch of this new product, CJ CheilJedang plans to continuously release innovative ‘convenience-type dumpling’ products that can be easily consumed anytime and anywhere, thereby creating new markets.


In fact, in the United States, where sales of Bibigo Mandu alone reached 420 billion KRW last year?surpassing domestic sales?the ‘tray-type dumplings’ that can be heated directly in the microwave account for one-quarter of total sales. CJ CheilJedang expects that adding convenience to the existing taste and quality of Bibigo Mandu in Korea will attract consumers seeking simple meals like ‘cup ramen’ and ‘samgak kimbap.’


A CJ CheilJedang official stated, “The ‘Bibigo Cup Mandutguk’ is a product that combines both taste quality and convenience, helping consumers recognize dumplings as a great meal option,” adding, “We will continue to leverage our overseas experience domestically with innovative products and consistently share domestic successes abroad to lead the market.”
