‘Salgoti Moonlight Drive-in Theater’ Event with Artificial Moon Background Wins Grand Prize in Government, Public & Local Government Category for Digital Advertising & Campaigns
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced on the 14th that the ‘Hope Artificial Moon’ (show your love) project conducted last year around Salgot-i Sports Park won the highest award (Grand Prix) in the government, public, and local government category of the digital advertising & campaign division at the ‘2020 A Awards (Awards For New Digital Award).’
The A Awards is a representative digital marketing awards ceremony in Korea, hosted by the Korea Digital Enterprise Association and officially supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation.
Every year, works submitted from various fields undergo a rigorous three-stage evaluation process by field experts, industry CEOs, and external professional committees to select the final winners.
The district’s award was largely influenced by its contribution to sharing the emotions of residents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, comforting their hearts, and delivering a message of overcoming hardship, thereby aiding the psychological quarantine of the residents.
The theme of ‘overcoming hardship’ and the collaborative efforts of experts from various fields also resonated strongly, significantly impacting the evaluation.
In September last year, the district carried out the ‘Hope Artificial Moon’ project by installing a large moon sculpture with a diameter of 12 meters and 21 small moon sculptures at Salgot-i Sports Park along the Cheonggyecheon Stream to wish for overcoming COVID-19 and to deliver a message of hope to the residents.
The artificial moon project attracted much attention as it conveyed a message of hope and overcoming hardship through a public-private partnership amid the reality where the new term ‘corona blue’ had emerged.
For the project, Seongdong-gu and Cube Entertainment, located in the region, co-hosted the event, with companies affiliated with the Seongdong-gu Chamber of Commerce sponsoring it.
Additionally, last year, Seongdong-gu operated the ‘Salgot-i Moonlight Drive-in Theater,’ conducting a psychological quarantine project utilizing the ‘Hope Artificial Moon.’
The ‘Salgot-i Moonlight Drive-in Theater’ was met with great enthusiasm from residents, with every session fully booked and a flood of ‘certification shots’ and ‘reviews’ on internet communities and social media within Seongdong-gu. Due to this strong response, the event was expanded beyond the original plan, running for three weeks (a total of nine sessions), with a total of 1,374 cars (an average of 152 cars per session) participating, concluding successfully.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “The ‘Hope Artificial Moon’ project and the ‘Salgot-i Moonlight Drive-in Theater’ project were very meaningful in providing some healing and comfort to our residents who have been exhausted and struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to strive to alleviate psychological distress and cultural thirst.”
