[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Chang-woo Lee) has joined the ‘Expecting Local Autonomy Challenge.’

The ‘Expecting Local Autonomy Challenge’ is a participatory campaign initiated by the Presidential Committee on Local Autonomy to convey hopes and key messages for realizing resident-centered local autonomy following the complete revision of the Local Autonomy Act for the first time in 32 years.

The campaign continues by writing free opinions about the Local Autonomy 2.0 era on hand signs, taking photos, posting them on social media such as Facebook and Instagram, and nominating three next participants.

Chang-woo Lee, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, who joined the campaign upon the nomination of Seong-hoon Yoo, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, delivered the message, “In the Local Autonomy 2.0 era, we will create a happy Dongjak where everyone is happy through local autonomy that changes my life,” and reaffirmed his determination for the era of local autonomy with residents.

Mayor Chang-woo Lee of Dongjak-gu said, “Dongjak, which always considers changes in residents’ lives, will work even harder to realize local autonomy,” adding, “We will continue to take steps toward becoming a balanced development city where no one is left behind through active communication with residents.”

Mayor Chang-woo Lee of Dongjak-gu nominated Hyun-il Chae, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, and Sam-ho Kim, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, as the next participants in the challenge.

Meanwhile, at the ‘19th National Resident Autonomy Expo’ held in December last year, among 309 cases in five fields including ▲resident autonomy ▲regional revitalization ▲learning communities ▲resident organization networks ▲institutional policies, 68 excellent cases were finally selected, and Sadang 2-dong won the grand prize in the ‘resident autonomy field.’
