Dobong-gu Volunteer 'Dobongsalpimi' Recruitment

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) is newly recruiting volunteers called ‘Dobongsalpimi’ who directly find and report neighborhood inconveniences to help create a better living community.

‘Dobongsalpimi’ is a volunteer activity that reports daily inconveniences and aesthetic disturbances through smartphone mobile apps (Seoul Smart Inconvenience Report), the Eungdapsso internet site, text messages, or the 120 Dasan Call center, aiming to improve the village living environment.

Reportable issues include road and sidewalk block damage, rainwater drain maintenance, streetlight and security light malfunctions, illegal advertisements, unauthorized garbage dumping, illegal parking, and other complaints that require prompt on-site handling.

Once a report is received, the relevant department takes swift action, and the reporter can receive the processing results via text message.

Any Dobong-gu resident can apply, and those interested should apply by the 29th through the 1365 Volunteer Portal site or the district office’s Audit Department.

Even if not a Dobong-gu resident, those whose workplace or school is located in Dobong-gu can apply.

Final selections will be announced in February, and selected volunteers will be active for one year. The goal is to report more than 50 cases per person annually, and based on activity performance, volunteers can receive credit for 1 hour of volunteer time per 4 reports, up to a maximum of 8 hours per day.

Meanwhile, ‘Dobongsalpimi’ started in 2014 and has been operating continuously every year. In 2020, a total of 70 ‘Dobongsalpimi’ actively monitored the Dobong-gu area and discovered about 2,000 improvement cases.

Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu said, “The village is something we must share and build together,” and added, “We ask for the interest of many residents in Dobongsalpimi, who voluntarily participate in creating our village.”
