Development of Non-Face-to-Face Content ... Step-by-Step Marketing Promotion According to the COVID-19 Situation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] On the 17th, Daegu City, which will launch a tourism foundation this March, announced that it will actively promote strengthening the competitiveness of the local tourism industry and supporting the tourism sector to prepare for the post-COVID-19 era and to revitalize regional tourism.
Selected last year for the government-wide regional tourism service innovation integrated support project called the "Korea Total Tourism Package" (KTTP), Daegu City is promoting the "Daegu Total Tourism Package" (DTTP) project with a total budget of 17.7 billion KRW, including 10.8 billion KRW in national funds.
To actively encourage the spread of foreign tourists concentrated in the metropolitan area to local regions, the city is establishing environments and services so that foreign tourists arriving at regional airports can receive seamless tourism information, transportation, accommodation, food, experiences, and shopping services.
Once the Daegu Total Tourism Package (DTTP) is completed, starting in 2022, foreign tourists arriving at Daegu Airport will be provided with top-level airport services such as shortened immigration inspection times (from 20 minutes to 5 minutes), expansion of new direct flight routes, and activation of performances within the airport. Additionally, tourism transportation convenience will be dramatically improved through the introduction of tourism taxis and expansion of foreign language services on LED displays in city buses.
Furthermore, the Suseong Lake area will be developed into a "waterfront-type smart service zone," featuring AI video fountains, healthcare zones, and smart Duregil (traditional walking paths) food streets, while Dongseong-ro will be transformed into a "smart traveler street" integrated with smart shopping.
Moreover, Daegu City explained that by linking ecological green tourism, walking tours, Nakdong River leisure sports valley, marine leisure sports connected with Gyeongbuk, and utilizing 26 Hallyu drama filming locations to create a "Cinema Heaven Daegu," they plan to develop Daegu-Gyeongbuk’s history, marine, and Hallyu content into a more memorable and attractive global tourist city.
Park Hee-jun, Director of the Daegu City Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, emphasized, "We have hope that the current pain in the tourism sector will come to an end, and we will restructure the tourism industry infrastructure so that we can welcome domestic and international tourists, who may flood in all at once after the end of COVID-19, in the best and most comfortable environment."
