"President Moon, Are You Aware of the Medical Community's Self-Deprecation and the Youth's Sense of Deprivation?"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 17th, the People Power Party criticized the final passing of the national medical licensing exam by Cho Min, the daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, saying, "This is truly a moment that makes the ruling party's slogan of 'equal opportunity, fair process, and just outcome' utterly meaningless," and added, "The ruling party should now refrain from even mentioning 'fairness'."
In a statement on the same day, People Power Party spokesperson Bae Jun-young said, "A month ago, the court judged that all seven credentials submitted by the children of former Minister Cho to the medical school were forged or false," and continued, "While the audacity of the Cho family to take the national exam despite their false credentials being exposed is incomprehensible, the university's stance of 'we will review whether to cancel admission only after the prosecution's investigation results come out' is equally unacceptable."
Spokesperson Bae added, "In similar cases, admission was immediately canceled as soon as the individuals were prosecuted, or the Ministry of Education intervened and demanded the university cancel the admission through an internal audit," and stated, "Unless the standard of justice is to discriminate based on 'those in power,' this is utterly incomprehensible."
Bae further pointed out, "The spot taken by the Cho family belongs to young people who studied fiercely day and night to become doctors. How much despair must the young person who lost by a mere 1.16 points have felt?" and criticized, "Former Minister Cho spoke to the youth about 'a world where even those born in a small stream can live happily as carp, frogs, or crayfish,' yet he was using every possible means to raise his own child to become a dragon."
Spokesperson Bae asked, "Is President Moon Jae-in listening to the medical community's self-deprecating cries of wanting to 'tear off their doctor’s gowns'? Does he understand the sense of deprivation felt by the youth?" and said, "I want to ask on behalf of the people whether he feels any sense of indebtedness to the people for losing to former Minister Cho."
